Comforting  Care for our “She-Roes” in the Pink Capes

Like any post-surgery patient, breast cancer survivors look for soothing and comfort during the recovery period. Treatments can be especially hard on the skin, resulting in excess sensitivity to everything from touch to sunlight, survivors and their families have been searching for clothing and other products to support their loved ones as their bodies heal.

Many are turning to bamboo-based products for their highly beneficial qualities that support, ease, and possibly speed up the healing process.  Manufacturers of bedding, headwear, loungewear, swimsuits, and more are finding their beloved customers can’t get enough.

Why so, you ask?

Remember back in the day when we played outside?  For every scrape, you would run and grab a bandaid.  That was until you were told that, “if you really want that to heal, you have to let the air get to it.”

Cancer patients may experience side effects that make it difficult for them to fall asleep, such as sensitive and irritating skin, getting too hot, or trouble staying warm enough.

Bamboo is one of the most breathable fabrics on the planet.  It is moisture-wicking, and bacteriostatic properties help aid, and maybe even speed up the recovery process and prevent infections for post-operative wounds. Clothing and bedding made from this wonder fabric glide seamlessly over the skin allowing much-needed coverage and protection, while preventing excess rubbing and irritation in these sensitive areas.

It is hypoallergenic, which makes it ideal for patients who undergo therapy that experience extremely dry and itchy skin and find that the itching keeps them from falling asleep. Additionally, it is perfect for those who have skin issues following surgery or radiotherapy.

“Bamboo kun”, a naturally occurring antibacterial agent, is present in bamboo fiber. Because of this, bamboo cloth is resistant to germs, mold, fungus, and odor even after numerous washes. Which also makes it a good choice for people with weakened immune systems.

We know the recovery process is as much physical as it is mental.  Helping create relaxing spaces and luxe sleep essentials that help facilitate rest and recuperation is our little way to show our “She-roes” that we care.
